    Lee Duncan owned four generations; Rin Tin Tin, Junior, Rin Tin Tin III, Rin Tin Tin II and Rin Tin Tin IV and we have owned eight generations; Rin Tin Rin V, Rin Tin Tin VI, Rin Tin Tin VII, Rin Tin Tin VIII, Rin Tin Tin IX, Rin Tin Tin X, Rin Tin Tin XI and Rin Tin Tin XII.

The First Rin Tin Tin

Made 26 films for Warner Brothers pictures and is actually credited with saving the studio from bankruptcy. He and Duncan traveled the US on promotional tours for the studio. Rin Tin Tin died in the arms of Jean Harlow on Duncan"s front lawn and was originally buried at the Duncan home on Clubview Drive. His body was later moved to Paris; France his birthplace. The original Rin Tin Tin was out of Betty des Flandres (22318) and sired by Fritz de la Chasse royale (34596) and whelped on Sept. 10, 1918. The lineage of Rin Tin Tin is also traced to the first registered German Shepherd Dog, Horand, in 1899. Rin Tin Tin served as a Red Cross Dog with his owner Duncan.

Rin Tin Tin III

Rin Tin Tin III was used by Duncan to form and train some 5,000 dogs for the first US Military K9 Corps. Duncan persisted with his idea to form the Military K9 Corp"s and volunteer his time and talents to train both the men and dogs for WWII. Once the war ended many of the dogs Duncan had trained for the war were returned to their previous owners and families.

 

 

 

Rin Tin Tin II

Rin Tin Tin II's grandfather was International Champion, Grand Victor Odin von Busecker Schloss, FH (Herding title), Register of Merit, one of the most recognized German Shepherd Dogs in history. Odin was a half brother to Pfieffer v Bern and the German SV Champion in 1936 as well as the American Grand Victor. An accomplishment not since repeated in the history of the German Shepherd Dog. Rin Tin Tin II was one of Duncan"s favorites, he was used in the series The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin and is the dog seen running in front of the horses " a feat Very difficult to accomplish with a herding dog. In later years one of his ears was damaged by a log from a woodpile making it difficult to use him for film.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rin Tin Tin IV

Rin Tin Tin IV is probably the most well know and recognized dog from the 1950s series, The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin. Although there were actually four dogs used in the filming; Rin Tin Tin II, Rin Tin Tin IV, Hey You and a dog belonging to Frank Barnes named JR, Rin Tin Tin IV was the lead dog for the shooting of the series.

Extensive pedigree research indicates that all of the dogs in the pedigree of Rin Tin Tin IV are related to both Fritz de la Chasse royale and Betty des Flandres , the sire and dam of the original Rin Tin Tin.

The first direct son of Rin Tin Tin IV to arrive in Texas, "Rinty" achieved his Companion Dog (CD) title from performances at American Kennel Club sanctioned dog shows with three consecutive scores of 172 +. Rinty was introduced into the breeding program of Bodyguard Kennels, with approval and encouragement from Lee Duncan, to preserve the Rin Tin Tin lineage. Rinty produced several litters for Jannettia Brodsgaard Propps to that end. Rinty died in 1964. His half brother, Bodyguards Rin Tin Tin II, CD, continued the preservation of the lineage at Bodyguard Kennels through his progeny.

Bodyguards Rin Tin Tin II, CD was a stunning black and silver direct son of Rin Tin Tin IV who sired progeny that would continue the Rin Tin Tin lineage. "Judo" as he was called had been originally selected by Duncan to be Rin Tin Tin V. Judo received his American Kennel Club Companion Dog title (CD) for his successful performances at sanctioned dog shows. The kennel name of Bodyguard Kennels was well known for maintaining the Rin Tin Tin lineage following Duncan"s death September 20, 1960.

 

 

Rin Tin Tin VI

Fido was utilized as a stud at Bodyguard Kennels to continue the Rin Tin Tin lineage in a manner consistent with the wishes of Lee Duncan. Rinty's progeny also worked in Houston in the security industry to protect some of the city's most well known buildings. Fido was the last of the Rin Tin Tin lineage to be owned by Jannettia Brodsguard Propps before her death in 1988. The legacy of Rin Tin Tin was passed to Miss Daphne Hereford, Jannettia's grand daughter, before her death to insure that the lineage of Rin Tin Tin would be preserved and protected.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rin Tin Tin VII

Rin Tin Tins Bubba

Bubba was a stunning example of the Rin Tin Tin lineage featuring the trademarked head, intelligence and structure. As the personal dog of Miss Daphne Hereford, the public for his stunning appearance and ability often recognized Bubba. He died as the result of a tragic accident in the summer of 1994. His grandson, Rin Tin Tins Oooh-Ahhh would continue the legacy.

 

 

 

 

 

Rin Tin Tin VIII

Oooh-Ahhh was an identical replica of Rin Tin Tin II and Rin Tin Tin IV in color, structure, the trademarked head and intelligence. As an ambassador for Rin Tin Tin incorporated "Rinty" presented responsible dog ownership programs to more than 5,000 school children during public appearances. He was a super star when it came to personal appearances and he delighted audiences with his talents. Rin Tin Tin VIII retired in 2005 at the age of 11.

An identical replica of Rin Tin Tin VIII, Rin Tin Tin II and Rin Tin Tin IV. When he was two years old he assumed the position of Rin Tin Tin IX and succeeded Rin Tin Tin VIII until he sustained an injury to his ear which now prevents him from making personal appearances, but remains in the breeding program.
